UPDATE: Body of Missing Ballet Dancer from St. Louis Found in Lake

Missouri Highway Patrol says Raffaella Maria Stroik's body was found in Mark Twain Lake in Monroe County, Mo.

12:08 p.m. update: Missouri Highway Patrol says Raffaella Maria Stroik was was found in Mark Twain Lake in Monroe County, Mo. at about 9:40 a.m. Wednesday after a private plane pilot spotted her body in the water. The investigation into the cause of her death is ongoing.

The vehicle of Raffaella Maria Stroik, 23, was found unattended at a boat ramp in rural Missouri on Monday.

Authorities initially kept watch of the vehicle, and when no one had come to get it on Tuesday a missing persons report was made for the 23-year-old. She was last seen Monday morning at the Whole Foods in Town and Country.

Stroik is 5’7” tall, weighs approximately 115 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She normally wears her hair in a ponytail or a braid. When she was last seen, she was wearing her hair in a ponytail and she was wearing an olive-green jacket, long pink scarf, navy colored pants with white zippers on the sides, and white tennis shoes. She lives in St. Louis, but is originally from South Bend, Indiana.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Eric Brown tells KMOX troopers, park rangers, and friends and family of Stroik will be actively searching for her starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the area around Mark Twain Lake. 

Anyone with information on the location of Stroik is asked to call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 660-385-2132.

The area around the vehicle is being searched in hopes of finding clues to locate the woman who is listed as a dancer for the St. Louis Ballet.
