A family is suing after their five-year-old daughter was mauled by a pit bull traveling as an emotional support animal inside a Portland airport.

According to the lawsuit, 5-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez was waiting at the gate when she spotted the dog and asked if she could pet it.  The dog then bit her face, causing multiple injuries that required surgery. A photo of the girl's face was posted on

Now, Gonzalez' mother is suing the dog's owner, Alaska Airlines and the Port of Portland for $1.1 million, claiming the dog not a properly trained service animal and should have been confined to a carrier.
