Flags ordered to half-staff to honor fallen 20-year-old Hillsboro soldier

Spc. Jackson Johnson will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Thursday at 11 a.m.

ST. LOUIS (KFTK) - Flags across Missouri are at half staff today to honor a fallen soldier from Jefferson County.

Governor Mike Parson ordered the honor for 20-year-old Army Reserve Spc. Jackson Johnson of Hillsboro, who was killed in northern Kuwait. 

Flags are to be lowered at all government buildings. 

Specialist Johnson was a Transportation Management Coordinator in the 657th transportation company, 419th transportation batallion, 649th regional support group, 103rd expeditionary command.

He was killed in a car accident March 5th, the same accident another woman from the St. Louis-area was killed.
 
Sgt. Holli Bolinski also died when their vehicle crashed into a tractor trailer. The 37-year-old Pickneyville, Ill. woman was a mother of five.

Both the soldiers were based at Camp Arifjan and served in the 657th Transportation Detachment, an Army Reserve unit based in Belleville, Illinois.

Johnson will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Thursday at 11 a.m.
