(KFTK) — While on the campaign trail in South Carolina this past Sunday, Joe Biden, a devout Catholic, ducked into Saint Anthony's Church.

When it came to the time in the mass for Communion, the former vice-president and current Democrat frontrunner was sent away by Father Robert E. Morey.

Speaking to the South Carolina Morning News, the pastor admitted he refused to give the sacrament, claiming Biden's stance on abortion makes him ineligible.

"Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching," said Morey.

“I will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers,” Morey added.
