Missouri AG Schmitt wants charges dismissed against McCloskeys

Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt said he is entering the McCloskeys’ case on behalf of Missourians.

“Now that the charges are filed, it is totally appropriate to come in and defend the rights of Missourians to defend themselves,” he said.

Schmitt said this is not a close call. This is a clear case of a prosecutor trying to score political points.

“She has a primary election in two weeks. The timing of this is interesting,” he said.

The Attorney General said he reached out to Kim Gardner early on to try to work together to help St. Louis.

“There were crickets,” he said on Gardner not getting back to him.
