(KFTK) — There's a new warning about technology use and it references a couple of tech giants who shielded their own children from some of the same products that they wanted you to gobble up.

The book, titled "Screen Schooled: Two Veteran Teachers Expose How Technology Overuse is Making Our Kids Dumber," references Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, of Apple and Microsoft.

Jobs wouldn't even let his kids' play with an iPad. Gates didn't allow cell phones until his own kids were 14. Gates also restricted video game use when one of his children showed an "unhealthy attachment."

The World Health Organization says kids under 5 should be limited to an hour of screen time per day. Other research has found a 27% increase in depression among eighth-graders with frequent social media use, Business Insider reports.
