Facebook photos made it look like someone vandalized the Gateway Arch

It was just the reflection of the sunrise that looked like a "orange fiery bolt of electricity was running up the leg."

ST. LOUIS (KFTK) - That's not orange spray paint covering the side of the Gateway Arch – it's just the reflection of Wednesday's sunrise.

Some followers of the Gateway Arch National Park Facebook page weren't sure what they were looking at when two photos were posted of a bright orange streak running all the way from the ground to nearly the top of the Arch.

Some people thought it looked like spray paint, chalk or graffiti. One commentator said she "thought this was graffiti and it made me really sad." Another person made a connection to Wednesday being the 18th anniversary of 9/11 saying, "Tears of remembrance from the heavens above on this day 9/11/2019."

But the post says it was just the reflection of the sunrise that looked like an "orange fiery bolt of electricity was running up the leg."
