NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Iconic "Inside the Actors Studio" host James Lipton died Monday at his home in Manhattan. He was 93.

The cause was bladder cancer, according to his wife, Kedakai Mercedes Lipton.

"There are so many James Lipton stories but I’m sure he would like to be remembered as someone who loved what he did and had tremendous respect for all the people he worked with," she told TMZ.

Lipton's run with the show — which consisted of him interviewing actors about their craft, and not so much about their personal lives — last 23 seasons. He left the show last year when it moved from Bravo to Ovation.

His guests spanned the spectrum, including Paul Newman, Neil Simon, Sally Field, Dennis Hopper, Alec Baldwin and Sidney Lumet.

Aside from his wife, he is not survived by any other immediate family members.
