A Maryland man had his house broken into in an attempted robbery by the bank teller from where he withdrew a large amount of cash from earlier in the day.

According to NBC 12, Hartford County Sherriff's Office responded to a 911 call from the 78-year-old man at his home on Monday. The police were able to see that he'd been assaulted by 19-year-old Nathan Newell...the bank teller.

"In 34 years in law enforcement, I can't think of another case where it's almost like a reverse bank robbery,” Sherriff Jeff Gahler said.

Newell allegedly forced himself into the man's home, but quickly ran away after someone else in the home was able to intervene. When the police arrived they checked the doorbell camera which helped them arrest Newell on Thursday. The bank is cooperating with law enforcement's investigation.

“You have to mind everything nowadays, the bank, the store, anyone could be watching you,” a neighbor said.

Two people were treated for injuries during the altercation and have been released from the hospital.
