WASHINGTON (KFTK) — For the third consecutive year, President Trump announced he will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner and will host a rally instead.

The annual get-together for celebrities, journalists and politicians is “so boring” and “too negative,” Trump told reporters at the White House Friday.

Last year, while Trump attended a rally in Michigan, the dinner featured comedian Michelle Wolf, who was hit by a wave of criticism following her mockery of Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

This year, the WHCA invited biographer Ron Chernow as the featured speaker for the dinner Saturday, April 27.

“I like positive things,” the president told CBS News. While the rally location has not yet been announced, “it’ll be a big one,” Trump said.
