Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, is on a mission to reduce the earnings tax in St. Louis and Kansas City for the next 10 years. If the proposal is passed, it will take effect in 2020 until the tax is zero.

Lawmakers plan to phase out the 1% earnings tax in an attempt to-wait for it- cut taxes.

"I have always been against income taxes for as long as I have been in politics," The Senator said.

Eigel has been asked why a Senator from St. Charles would care about the taxes in the city of St. Louis.

"The folks in St. Charles are being affected by the bad policies in downtown St. Louis," he replied.
