The progressive income tax has passed in the Illinois Senate

After seven minutes of debate, the Senate passed this amendment and now it’s up to the people to decide if they would like it on the 2020 ballot. Director of budget and tax research from Illinois Policy Adam Schuster explained why this is detrimental to the state. “They’re trying to say that moving towards a graduated tax structure somehow modernizes the tax code,” “If tax hikes worked, if tax hikes were going to solve the state of Illinois fiscal problems, why are we talking about another one?”
