Hopefully, you've heard about the shooting at a Colorado STEM school.  If you haven't it's because the way the students have responded doesn't fit the media narrative.  The shooting was carried out by a transgender person and another juvenile boy, and a couple of students rushed at the aggressors causing one boy to lose his life.  A vigil was held after the tragic event with media presence and the students didn't like how it was being covered one bit.  One child, in fact, stood up and said "we want our voices heard, not yours. We are people, not a statement".
