Our No Merger Minute today focused on the news that the head of the St. Louis chapter of the NAACP, John Gaskin III, announced his group was in favor a city-county merger before admitting he was a paid advocate of the merger.

Mayor Reggie Jones of Dellwood is a member of the group and is now calling for Gaskin to resign.

"Actually, I’m calling for Mr. Gaskin to resign I think what happened yesterday was a tragedy. I mean, he’s that leader of a historical organization that’s been there for African Americans and to come out yesterday as if his entire organization supports this merger.  But he spoke on behalf of the NAACP of St. Louis County.  And so of course, he’s bought and paid for by the Rex Singfeld group and the Better Together movement.  So if he wants to take that money, that’s fine but that’s why I’m calling for his resignation," says Jones.
