Salute To Service Sam Allerton

Sam Allerton served in United States Naval Aviation from 1972 to 2002 (30 years), retiring as an E-8 (Senior Chief Petty Officer) earning both enlisted aviation warfare designators: Naval Aircrewman (NAC) and Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (EAWS).

His service included Vietnam ('72-'75), Desert Shield/Storm ('90-'91), Kosovo ('99), and the Global War on Terror ('01-'02). He served in aviation squadrons, including: attack (VA-304), anti-submarine warfare (VAW-78), electronic counter measures (VAQ-208), helicopter combat support (HAL-4), aerial refueling (VAK-308), and fleet logistics support (VR-55).  

Allerton served as the Liaison Officer between the United States Navy and the Italian Air Force in Sigonella, Sicily, during the Kosovo War in '99.  He completed his 30 years of Naval Service by serving two years as a facilitator at the United States Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island, facilitating leadership classes for senior non-commissioned officers from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and the U.S. Coast Guard (all branches of the United States Armed Forces) as well as selected senior enlisted personnel from selected NATO countries.
