Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services: ‘Staying shut down longer than needed is not just an economic cost.’

Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Eric Hargan said we need to get the economy back up and running for our country and for our individual health.

“We are going to need some distance to figure out how we are going to do things differently,” he said about moving forward for the rest of the year.

The goal post was to make sure our hospital system was not overwhelmed and to flatten the curve. Hargan said we have met this goal.

He said people do need to take care of this disease and not laugh it off. If you look at the age group from March until now of who is contracting it, the demographic has changed.

“We have to make sure to reduce the head of this disease as much as we can,” he said. “We are seeing the younger, healthier population contract this disease.”​
