Legal Fellow at The Heritage Foundation Zack Smith discussed the 11 charges, one of which is felony murder, that former Atlanta police officer Garret Rolfe received yesterday for the death of Rayshard Brooks.

When you watch the video, you see a moment that goes from cordial to Rayshard Brooks resisting arrest. It happened very quickly.

“The question legally speaking is if the officer was justified in using deadly force,” Smith said.

Many of the counts brought against the officer deal with the procedure. Are any of these things normal or abnormal charges?

Zack said we need to wait until all the information is out there in order to determine if the counts are meant to make an example out of Rolfe or if they are plausible towards the case.
