With bipartisan support, Trump signs the Hong Kong autonomy act

Trump signed legislation and an executive order to hold China accountable for its oppressive actions against Hong Kong.

Jim Carafano said China is trying to be a global bully and it’s time for America to stand up to them.

 “Nobody in the world will stand up to the Chinese if we don’t,” he said on the executive order.

He said we have a phase one of an economic deal with China and he believes it will stay that way. However, the future of the partnership depends on what happens to the Chinese economy in the aftermath of coronavirus.

“I don’t think anybody will see a phase 2 economic deal with China,” he said.
