Dr. Osborn petitions the people of St. Louis to use their best judgment when the economy reopens next week. Things are getting better, but COVID-19 is definitely still out there and you are still at a risk. Enclosed spaces will increase the risk of picking up COVID-19 from the general public.

A small number of children have been exhibiting symptoms of Kawasaki disease, which is being linked to COVID-19. These symptoms include inflammation, a rash, red eyes, abdominal pain and skin peeling on hands or feet. Dr. Osborn says that if you see any of these symptoms in your child, DO NOT give them aspirin. You could make the symptoms worse. Take them to the hospital and allow a doctor to decide what the best treatment is.

Dr. Osborn also reminds us that the CDC recommends that everyone wear a mask in public. Masks are very important in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Tiffany Osborn, MD, MPH,  works in the surgical / trauma Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at Washington University School of Medicine.
