Mark Mantovani is running for St. Louis County Executive. He joins the show to discuss the current state of the county council in regard to their pandemic response.

“I’m struggling with the County Executive’s position on this,” says Mantovani.

Mantovani believes there is too much “unfettered control” of spending on the current council makeup.

“I believe in a representative government,” he continues.

He explains he’s been dissatisfied with the trajectory of our region for many years and that he doesn’t think our government focuses on the right issues.

On a merger?

“I think our competition is not each other," says Mantovani.

He continues by explaining that he believes our current separation has put us at an economic disadvantage compared to other Midwestern cities such as Nashville and Kansas City.
